msd6a wiring

Do you install the high current ignition driver circuit for use with the msd and my ms2
v3 VR circuit? The magamanual is confusing to me about this.

Sorry, I can't help you there as I've never seen a need for an MSD unit with the stock ignition. The stock ignition is already pretty strong.

Well I was told by a local tuner that if im going for 450hp+ and boost over 15-16 psi with water meth injection, I need an ignition amplifier. And if I come without one and get ignition breakup under high boost I would have to pay him again to finish tuning after I get one. Do you think its necessary? He also wants 450-500 to tune it. I want to tune it but its hard to grasp timing cause evey motor is different. Everything I read is based on piston motors and say advance timing till a loss in power or knock occours and then back off. But i dont want to advance my timing till I get knock at 15-30 psi.

I am sure at 15 psi you will be fine. I am not sure once you get past that.

Maybe it was just the amp we were using at the time but we tried using a crane unit and it hurt more than it helped when we first megasquirted tofuball's car.

Well what happens if I have problems with an amplifier and still have breakup problems? Do I upgrade to a msd trigger? Hopefully I will not have problems.lol

i use the ms2 extra code with this igniter http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-TO...s#ht_564wt_577 it have 3 outputs and a tach output you conect the 3 outputs to the white wire of the msd6a and that it!!! you need 3 msd boxes 2 for trailing and 1 for leading

Leading does most of the ignition, so you can get away with just 1 box.

you can use 1 box like Ken says or,if you have the $ use 2 with no split or go hardcore and use 3 2 for trailing and 1 for leading is very simple just connect the igniter just like in the stock fc system and in the rotary setings put the output mode to fd mode and conect the output of the igniter to the white wire of the msd box

yea!!! and if you want this is the part# of the exactly the same igniter I use in some cars :

1.toyota igniter, 89621-41010

2.connector,90980-11653

you have to find the pins for the connector but that is easy, the igniter, you can find it in a yunkyard for a couple of bucks or in ebay, for the connector I buy it in a toyota dealer,(I work in a toyota dealership) the igniter have an output for the tachometer but I never try it for the stock tachometer, but I think it suppose to work fine
