MS2EXTRA Question

Im building a MS2Vr. 3.0PCB. Running the MS2Extra 1.xFirmware.
I want to run Stock Coils, Stock CAS.
Im on step 65 in the Mega Manuel. The part where you decide whether to populate the high-current ignition driver circuit.
I know you don't want to run a vb921 because the stock coils have igniter's on them ...So do i want to Jumper JS10 to IGN to bring the signal out on DB37 pin #36 and then run a jumper from IGN to my proto area for my 2nd VR Circut????

I was looking a few pictures of other peoples boards and didnt see a jumper wire from JS10 to IGN. Am i blind or doing somthing wrong?

Im Stuck at this point.....so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jake

Hi Jake,

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply- If you are using firmware 1.x you do not use JS10 at all.

I recommend skipping that step as I think it is for the MS to provide a standard spark output from standard firmware, where in this case you will be using the msextra 1.x firmware for rotary

Make a note on your instructions so that if there is a problem later you can come back to it, but I think it should not be a problem at all.

All the best with your build!

Paul.

You would use the JS10 jumper if you are running MS2Extra 2.0 which, according to Ken, should be released in a few weeks or so. He is working on ironing out bugs with rev limiter (spark cut) and launch control on rotary trailing, and they are in the final beta testing stages, so hopefully soon. If you're not in a hurry, you can wait until the final release, then jumper JS10 to the 2nd vr setup.

There's nothing wrong with launch control unless you try to use it with spark cut. The Spark retard and fuel cut options work fine.

Other than that, I hope to do the last 2.0 beta this weekend, then assuming there aren't any major problems, we'll do a release candidate, and assuming there isn't anything major wrong there, we'll release... so probably in 3 weeks or so.

I'm holding out for spark cut. Am I correct in assuming that with spark cut, you would have intense heat available to spool the turbo when staged at the track?

you'd have raw fuel going into the exhaust and possibly combusting in the exhaust and turbo, so yeah, you could get it to spool pretty nice like that.

You might even get it to blow fire out the exhaust.
