so what if i wired to spr1? or is that not an option? i was just following the other fan control thread

smackhead999 01-28-08 04:56 PM

uh my air temp sensor stopped working today. can a backfire burn up a sensor?

it was reading -18*c i unplugged it and it still read -18

muythaibxr 01-28-08 06:28 PM

I would guess if the backfire went far enough up the manifold it could kill the sensor.

I've never had that happen though.

On the wiring to spr1, you can leave it wired where it's at, but you have to change the settings to enable IAC2, even though you've wired to IAC1.

ok so spr1 is part of iac1? ill try that. what about those values. is the hysteris thing actual value or (trigger temp - off temp)? i discovered today that i had coolant in my oil a little. not much. might have been when my thermistat got stuck and the system pressurized hard. it made my waterpump leak throught the bearing. oh yeah, i also have an oil leak in my turbo. this was a bad day. so i changed my oil and that help the smoking clear up a little while. seemed to help it run better too. but i guess i need a turbo rebuild. its a t04s any suggestions.

muythaibxr 01-29-08 11:30 AM

No, I was saying don't switch to spr1, just keep it wired where it's at, and use the IAC2 settings.

Ken

smackhead999 01-29-08 12:04 PM

what i was saying is it is already at spr1. i cant use iac because that is wheremy spark jumpers are at. all the iac's are used up with spark and vr2. thats why i went to spr1

muythaibxr 01-30-08 09:43 AM

OK, I think I know the problem...

What output on the ms2 chip did you wire to the spr1 via?

Ken

smackhead999 01-30-08 03:49 PM

js0 on the bottom side

smackhead999 01-31-08 04:01 PM

what do you think?

muythaibxr 02-01-08 10:12 AM

I'll look over things this weekend. I won't have time today or tonight (work then Friday night fun...)

smackhead999 02-02-08 12:38 AM

aight ken. you da man

muythaibxr 02-02-08 09:01 AM

OK, if you're using JS0, that's one of the IAC pins, so you should use the IAC2 settings.

Ken

smackhead999 02-02-08 10:00 AM

i dont know ken. now im really confused. if js0 on the cpu is iac2 in the settings for output, and i wired to spr1 on the board, then it shouldnt really matter should it? im worried about burning something up, cuz i got my spark outputs on iac2 by the db37, and i dont understand how using js0/iac2 settings is going to control spr1 unless they are not connected except through my circuit on proto... which makes sense, since thats the way out of the megasquirt. sorry ken.

muythaibxr 02-04-08 11:06 AM

spr1 is just what the spare pin via is labeled... those labels on the spare pins have nothing to do with what the output is called in the ms2 firmware because you can wire anything you want to those vias... What matters to the firmware is what via you connect to on the chip side, under the chip...

So if you used JS0, that's physically IAC1, but there's a bug in megatune, so you have to use the IAC2 settings.

smackhead999 02-05-08 06:57 PM

ok.. gotcha. i can see clearly now the ...... oh nevermind

smackhead999 02-11-08 08:17 PM

i still couldnt get my fan to work today. if i test for continuity between ground and my fan wire coming from ms, while at my trigger temp, i should be able to tell if it is working right?

muythaibxr 02-12-08 11:11 AM

You should. You should also be able to hear the relay click if you're near it.

smackhead999 02-12-08 03:38 PM

yeah its not clicking and i will test for ground. i dont understand why it wont work. i have it setup like this: iac2, coolant > 88 hyst. 6, power value 1, trigger value 1. im using celsius degrees.

i also tried to reflash my firmware because of the iat craziness. i used the firmware downloader, and i do the bootloader jump and power on and file>open. wasnt sure what to click, so i chose monitor1.00. and it starts to do its thing, but then errors because of a time out of about 14.4 seconds. whats that all about?

muythaibxr 02-12-08 04:05 PM

you should use whatever downloader comes with the firmware you're trying to put on there....

Ken

smackhead999 02-12-08 09:53 PM

i cant get the downloader to work for some reason now. i click and it blinks up on the screen and disappears as soon as it comes up. i had to wipe everything megasquirt related and reinstall the firmware and mt. i configured, and copied the ini files. im trying to find a downloader that i can download with out the firmware.

muythaibxr 02-13-08 12:39 PM

OK, I don't really understand what's going wrong for you.

Basically, with ms2/extra 1.0.2, you just grab the firmware from msextra.com, and you can use the standard ms2 downloader to install the ms2/extra firmware (you just have to specify the location of the unzipped ms2/extra 1.0.2 firmware, labeled ms2_extra.s19).

Just make sure you use the boot jumper and you should be all set.

smackhead999 02-13-08 06:47 PM

i redownloaded firmware and copied the ini file, and loaded the s19 with downloader 2.0. it was successfull. however i know get this screen on my attachments. i made sure that car1 and my project file were configured for ms2. any idea what this means? oh and megatune wont respond to inputs from the ms.

muythaibxr 02-14-08 12:11 PM

It means that the firmware on the ms2, and the version that the ini is configured for are different.

I would suggest using ms2/extra 1.0.2, as the v2 code is not quite released yet.

Ken

smackhead999 02-15-08 12:04 PM

here is what i did... i downloaded the 1.0.2 firmware from ms2extra website, since the link for mt/firmware is not working. i unzipped it and put it in a file called firmware inside megatune folder.

i go inside this release 1.0.2, into the ms2extra folder and do copy ini.bat. the black screen pops up and says file was copied to the mtcfg. tho it does do that twice on the same screen. i dont think it matters. both time successful.

then i open up downloader and do the boot loader, cycle on, and open. i open the same firmware file and go to ms2extra_1.0.2 release.s19. double click and it does the flash and erase thing writes 100% and verifies most of it and it errors.

so both ini and s19 files come from the same download from ms2extra website. the only thing here is that im using a seperate downloaded version of downloader. the graphical one that comes with the firmware doesnt work. it just blinks up and then it goes away. sometimes the firmware will flash all the way and sometimes it wont. reguardless, when i open megatune i get that warning screen in my other post.

ive done this like 10 times now with varying results.

muythaibxr 02-15-08 12:08 PM

Yeah, and what I'm saying is that the ini file probably didn't go to the right place, or megatune isn't configured for MS2 or something like that.

settings.ini should be configured for ms2, and in your car1/mtCfg directory, you should copy the megasquirt-ii.ini.ms2extra file, and rename it megasquirt-ii.ini
