Megasquirt MegaSquirt installation timing?
MegaSquirt installation timing?
In the next little while I'm going to be installing my MS2 (V3) as to Aaroncake's website.
On the page "Programming The ECU (MS2)":
http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/megasquirt/ProgramMS2.asp
He gives you a spark timing table to download (Under the heading "Basic Setup: Ignition Table 1").
Now I know that I can't say that that table will work perfect for my car without modification, but... My question here is, if my CAS happened to be adjusted a lot different than his was when he made the table, wouldn't my timing be off?
The thought occurred to me the other day when I was reading that section and I just wanted to know if I'm overlooking something.

Well I have the engine running great now with the stock ECU so I'm assuming it's stabbed properly, I was more referring to the external adjustment that you can do via the little bolt and turning the CAS the 20-30ish degrees. For example if his was adjusted far one direction, and mine was adjusted far the other way, the timing would be off I'm assuming.
I take it it would be the same case as you were saying, only on smaller scale.
So... to make sure it IS on, should I pull out a timing light and see or because it's not stock timing does the stock timing lines no longer apply?

Whenever you do a new install or adjust the CAS, you should use a timing light to verify the correct timing.
Just use the fixed timing setting and set it to -5, and then check the leading timing.
