Megasquirt II V3

i've run across this guy that is selling a megasquirt 2 v3 ecu. he can't get it to start the car. he says it's loaded with base fuel only but can be upgraded to also run ignition. he got it from a friend that got it preassembled from Dyotune(could be misspelling), but the friend went with a tech 2 instead and didn't use the ms. he says it will conect to the pc and read all the sensors, just wont start the engine. anyone have any ideas or questions i may still need to ask?

search this forum for megasquirt II, but from what I understand if you use a missing tooth CAS it will work on your rotary with stock ignition but IIRC there is no trailing support at the moment. Its under developement and shouldn't be long before its 100%. You can always remove the V2 daughter board and put a MS-I chip in its place.

As for the unit itself, you need to see it for yourself working I guess. Have it connected to a laptop running megatune and goto "realtime" and look at the sensor data, but generally if it will talk to the laptop and it was professionally assembled you should be Ok, I'd just verify first hand that it does power up and can take programming changes.

MS2 doesn't have staging at all, and the beta wheel decoder seems a bit hard to get working right on a rotary according to Mike Robert (I haven't tried it myself)

MS2/extra has a working every-tooth wheel decoder with 2nd trigger working (in CVS right now). Mike Robert has had this code running his 12a without staging and it seems to work fine. In fact he told me the timing is more stable there than with the stock ms2 code or msns-extra.

I'm going to be adding staged injection and trailing ignition after I finish adding 2nd trigger + missing tooth support to the every-tooth wheel decoder for COP 4 cylinder guys, and finish adding some prediction code and other tweaks to the ms2/extra wheel decoder.

Oh, and I forgot, I'm going to add my % load idea too, including % baro as the first type of load calculation supported.

got a reply back, he says he was trying to use it on a 4 cyl saturn. i think the problem is that it's pre-loaded with fuel only processor code for whatever his friend's application was, and it's the wrong mapping for the saturn. plus there's no spark code on it. not sure how he could wire it in the car to control fuel and still leave the factory ecu controlling spark.

The MS2 never comes with any code pre-loaded. The later standard ms2 codes should run his saturn for both spark and fuel.
