lots of Q's

ok so im getting an assembled MS 1 v3 from imloggedin and have many q's

first he said it was built for the modded cas, so i know i need to remove 2 teeth from the cas but wat ones? along with that does that mean that i can run ignition or am i going to need a box/ the ms 2 daughter board?

second building the harness to use with the stock sensors?? where can i find a diagram for this and is it a good idea?

3rd i dont have a wide band yet but will it run and be able to use the stock narrow band temporally? i know it will work best with a wideband but dont have money for it yet.

and last who can i get a basic map to start out with for my s4 streetport non-turbo?

ill probably have some more q's in the near future
thanks for now
Jason

1) You can remove any two teeth as long as they are directly opposite each other. Most people grind off two that are at approx 90 degrees from the 2nd 2-tooth wheel just b/c its easier to get a dremel in there. You need to know which ones you ground off though, since you'll need to set it up and tell it which of the remaining teeth is passing at TDC of rotor one in relation to the missing tooth that would have passed the sensor previously (ex: TDC_R1 occurs at the 3rd tooth after a space where a tooth used to be). If you feel more adventurous, you can build the 2nd VR circuit on the board and use the stock CAS, this less prone to noise and interferance. With this you can control ignition.

2) Do you want to modify the stock harness, or build an intermediate harness to go between the stock harness and the megasquirt? Either way, you can find a description of the pin-outs for the stock ECU in the emissions section of the FSM, located at http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/88_manual.htm

The pin-out of the megasquirt is largely standard and can be found in the megasquirt documentation online, located at http://msextra.com/manuals/MS_Extra_Manual_Index.htm
but you'll need to find out a few specifics from imloggedin regarding which pins he has the spark signals connected to, as well as any other features he's built in to it.

3) you dont *need* a wideband, and the MS can read a narrowband (or can run without an o2 sensor as long as you dont want to run in closed-loop), but a wideband is highly recommended for tuning.

4) plenty of fuel and spark maps are floating around here... search and read up!

cool that answered a lot.
1 so can i run ignition off the missing tooth version or only w/ 2nd VR circuit??

2 in getting the stuff to build an ms pin out to stock mazda harness so im prob just going to use that(for now) at some point she is going to go itb and possibly turbo on that.

3 so how would i tune with out a wide band?? or you just cant? also do i need the wideband controller or can i just use the sensor??

4 i guess im off to use the search function!!!

and thanks
Jason

1) You can run it with either... the CAS in either of its forms is just to tell the MS where the engine is so that it can deliver the spark at the right time

2) It may be helpful to buy a second stock computer from another RX-7 of your generation and de-solder the connector to use for the harness

3)you can roughly tune with a narrowband... the point where it switches from 0v to 1v and back is just about stoich, so keep it there... and go a little bit richer of there at WOT

4) theres a ton of info to be had here

you need the controller, just the sensor is useless to you otherwise
