Let's play are you smarter than a Megasquirt!

I just spent the last 12 hours trying to figure out why I cannot get this output working. All I want it to do is ground a relay to power my electric fan.

Here is what I tried.
JS0 (IAC1A) wired directly to IAC1A for pin 25
JS9 was wired over to S12.
When wired in this configuration, off would stay off, on would cycle the relay. It would click rhythmically onoff onoff onoff onoff.

My next attempt was trying to use the ZEAL board to run the relay. Okay...so I ran JS09 up to IN2,
it goes through the 1K ohm resistor, into the transistor, through the diode and then goes OUT2.
In this configuration I used my multimeter to see my output. 12V one way, 0V the other way. OKAY....this should work.....right? So I even switched my relay wiring around so the ECU Was providing 12V while the relay was always grounded (waiting for 12v to complete the circuit). So once I completed the circuit the voltage would drop from 12v to .9v. No relay click, no nothing. no sparks....it would consistently show 12v, and then when it was a full circuit it would drop to .9v

The next thing I tried was just taking the JS0 and seeing if it was continuity coming out. When I hooked it up and the other side to ground it would go beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep. like it was switching.

I will include my current I/O setup since it was a "hybrid" of the aaron cake / DIYautotune. oops. I have a video as well I need to upload. will update shortly..

I also tried using JS11 (knock enable) to see if JS0 had an issue. that didnt work either.

Did you power cycle after changing the output to on (or off)?

You have to power cycle after every I/O change.

I will try again in a few days. For now it is hard wired.

What I dont understand is why I could turn it on or off (1 or 0 for trigger) and it would turn off. Then when it was on, the relay would click rhythmically.

Then trying the zeal board I would get nothing. JS0 going IN1, OUT1 going to IAC1A. no response. It would show 12V with a volt meter attached, and then drop to .9V when I attached the wire to the relay. It seemed like that SHOULD work but it didnt have the amperage to click the relay.

If you didn't reboot the MS after making the change, the behavior of the output would have been undefined. It would not have been controlled by the parameters you entered.
