Jimstim or regular?

So I'm looking at finally getting around to MS. I'm going to build the stim first though to get warmed up, its been a while since I've done serious soldering. I'm planning on following H4Inf's pdf to keep it simple, but I've been wondering if the extra stuff with the Jimstim makes it worthwhile or will the regular Stim kit be all I need?

for me the regular one was all I needed. I didn't use the stim for anything except checking things during assembly, and to marvel at the blinking lights til' summer came so I could put it in the car

I'd be more partial to pony up the extra $20 bones for the Jimstim. Nice to be able to test the VR circuit to see it works and have the "break-out board" function to bypass the MS connector for testing things like outputs, etc.

Yeah I ended up going for the Jimstim, even if I can't use everything extra it has to offer, extra features never hurt anything.

I use a regular stim. But I've also made an adapter harness that connects between the stim and MS that has breakouts for the CAS and coils. It's all set up on a testing board with the CAS connected to a cordless drill.
