Improvements with megasquirt

what kind of improvements have people seen with a megasquirt. A friend of mine who builds and tunes them will do it for me practically free. He built the one on the soon to be famous http://www.neufamily.org/truck.html 10 second 99 silvarado that won its class in hot rods drag week.(he is pushing 1000hp and over 1000 ft/lb and a 10.08 qtr mi time)

Currently i am pushing over 250 hp to the wheels and that was with a hour drive to the dyno and no cool down time on a 100 degree day. I will be using a megasquirt and obviously raising the boost.

What kinda numbers would i be pushing afterwards.

It depends entirely on how well your car is tuned now. If it's tuned well now, I doubt you'll see any increase in hp purely attributable to the MS. If you plan to increase the boost, then compare with others that have run similar boost levels with your turbo, intake, exhaust config. Any ecu that can fire the plugs properly and squirt fuel on a regular basis should be capable of a similar maximum power output. Differences will appear in drivability, tunability, tuning interface, options, etc.

The benefits are the fact that MS is open source, diy (so you can fix-it-yourself), low cost and readily customizable to meet a wide variety of installation requirements.

mine is modded and really not tuned for it. I will be able to raise the boost and a couple people have told me to expect about 360 hp with my setup.

I think that the point renns is trying to make is that you'll get your 360 hp no matter which computer is controlling your engine, and the differences between computers lie elsewhere, like in the drivability.

I have a modded N/A that I may convert to megesquirt to get rid of the old mazda sensors and harnes. I hope to gain some fuel milleage, consistancy, HP, and responce. Making it idle smooth and not smell so bad would be nice also. Does anyone with an N/A have any experience with this? I would love some results on ported motors and to hear from people using megasquirt II with MSnS or other means of controlling ignition.

I have some older photos of my 12A MSEFI install on smrmicro.com. It has worked out very well!

I'm running MSnS (although i'm using a Dizzy for my spark until this winter). I have a NA, street port done by myself, running my my car with all emmissions removed and all that jazz. I've found MS really easy to tune, and to get a smooth idle out of it, which is pretty good considering that my ports aren't exact copies, since they were done in my basement. I have noticed a fuel efficiency increase by being able to lean out my cruising range. I went from somewhere in the 17-18 MPG range (mixed), to 22.5 area. My friend just hit 23.5MPG on my car, all highway, since he had to borrow it for a week. The accelleration and is much smoother and consistant than with the stock ECU.
