Angry I can't switch off self-tuning!!! Arrggghhh

First off, I'm running 029y4, and the one thing I've never been able to do ever since I installed the MS last year, was to be able to turn OFF the self tuning. I've been using the Innovate Motorsports wideband for the self-tuning, but as soon as I take it out ( because I don't want that bulky thing in there forever), my tuning map's gego% drops down to 85% anywhere out of "idle range" (as soon as I touch the throttle). When it's unplugged, the AFR gauge reads 10.00afr on my laptop of course, and since it's assuming that it's running rich, it will automatically take out 15% fuel. This makes it VERY frustrating on the highway when I'm on the throttle steadily. It will go lean and act funny and then I have to lift off the throttle everytime so that the GEGO meter resets back to 100% again.
Of course, I've gone into the "more settings" pull down menu, selected afr settings and switched self tuning off. Didn't work. So I set the KPA to 255. Still didn't work. Set the ego correction to both 1 and 0. Still, didn't work. I've run out of ideas, and I really want to be able to turn this feature on ONLY when I need it to, and then be able to turn it off when I don't need it anymore.
Any ideas??

Regards,
Brian

That's not really self tuning, that's closed loop.

You can turn off closed loop in any number of ways.

The easiest way is to set the "step %" to 0.

I took a look earlier, and the only option I saw was open loop. I couldn't find closed loop to turn it off

It might be under EGO settings or something like that? I'll have to start up megatune when I get home and look up the exact menus to get there and shut it off the way I said.

That's one of those settings I normally turn on or off and then leave alone.

I finally figured it out. Under "more settings", I went to "open loop mode", selected it to TPS setpoint, and I changed the number to a lower number (50) than my closed idle number which was 59. It finally stopped correcting alltogether.
I noticed that if I set this number to, say 70, then it would only correct my fuel map as long as my throttle was anywhere between my closed number of 59 and 70. As soon as it would go over 70, it would stop correcting.

That's one way of disabling it... The one I was talking about is the way the megamanual suggests to disable it.
