Megasquirt Having trouble loading firmware
Having trouble loading firmware
So, I followed the Megamanual's procedure on loading the firmware.
This gave me the following error:
megasquirt ERROR: Timed out reading response, 0xE0
I have also tried loading it with the appropriate file in Ken's firmware sticky.
I passed all steps, but ultimately timed out (see screen shot attached)
I have the correct baud rate, the correct COM port selected (COM3), and am using the USB to serial adapter DIYAutotune sells on the site. I have tested the serial connection with Hyperterminal and get the echoing as the Megamanual shows. Also, I tested this with Mini-Terminal in TunerStudio. I get the "test" to echo back a vertical "test" when jumpering pins 2-3 in the DB9, BUT I cant get the correct response when I type "S", but I don't know if this is because I have no firmware installed in the first place. Also, I have checked voltages and ground on the 40-pin as the Megamanual suggests and passed that as well. I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but I am running the regular Stim with a 9V battery. If there is any other important information I am leaving out, let me know.
Thanks,
Alex

I've walked through the download-MS2-firmware.bat several times now with now luck. I tried using different COM ports for the hell of it, but no luck either. COM3 seems to be correct, as that's what I used when testing the serial adapter in Hyperterminal. Here is a screen shot of my Device Manager and another screenshot of the .bat.
Still no luck. I checked my power source and I have 5V at all the locations on the 40-pin per the megamanual. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I am using the Cables Unlimited USB2.0 to RS232 adapter that DIYAutoTune sells on their site. I have tried this on 3 computers, all running Win7, allowing Windows to update the drivers automatically. Trying to manually update the drivers from the disk only prompts Windows to say the most recent drivers are installed. FWIW, i am running Win7 64bit on a P7P55 motherboard with an Intel i5 750 1156 processor
Fixed! I'm not entirely sure what fixed it, but I changed out 9V batteries, and when the .bat file asked to power down the MS, I unplugged the stim, not just the battery. It worked first time!
