have a few questions about megasquirt on a 13b

ok I have a 86 gxl that i am building for the primaraly for the track. I am fairly new to rotaries but im learning a lot from the great people on this site. my questions are; can the megasquirt open the aux. ports by some kind of elecrtonic means(if anyone can point me in a direction where i can find out more about these ports and there purpose that would be great to), when using the megasquirt what does the motor absolutly need to run and drive streetability isnt really an issue, how hard is it to get a motor started for the first time when using a megasquirt. I know a lot of the questions have probaly been asked before but i am having trouble finding info on these topics. info or links to info would be great thanks for youre time.

how hard it is to get the motor running the first time is pretty varied depending on your setup. Mine started up pretty easily though, and does every time. A lot of stuff on race-prepping an FC can be found in the 2nd gen section, and in a few of the other general sections, and all of that would still apply here.

The aux ports (aka 5th and 6th ports) are opened with vacuum actuators that work based off of the exhaust backpressure, but if you're building a race car and getting rid of the cats etc, you'll need to find another way of actuating them. Since you wont have an air pump either (assuming itd be removed with the rest of emissions), you can either remove the actuators and replace them with constant-duty solenoids that are switched via one of the MS's outputs (it has 4 that can be switched off of a variety of inputs) off of the RPM signal (around 3800 is stock IIRC), or just wire them open. Wiring them open will lose you some low-end torque tho, theres a lot on this in the 2nd gen section as well.

The purpose of the aux ports is twofold... to flow more gas at higher rpm, and to change the port timing (same as the intake valve timing on a piston engine) of the engine to a more aggressive profile that will make more power at higher RPM.

Search in the 2nd gen section for stuff on the emissions removal and the TB mod, that should help you clean up the engine bay and get rid of all sorts of systems that you dont need for a race car. Hope this helps

you can get the kits and DIY for $200 plus the cost of a couple extra chips, soldering iron and solder, although if you're tuning it yourself, a WB 02 sensor is really helpful, which will run you another $200 for the Innovate LC-1
