can I not use the FET driver at all?

Ok I fried the FET driver in my v2.2 board due a nasty spike because of using a battery charger and a bad starter when trying to get the car started for the 3rd time with the MS. I also burnt some areas in the board and a diode, but I repaired it and Im reading 5v at the correct locations. The only issue when bench testing it was the FET driver getting extremely hot.

Im running a plug and play home made harness and stock injectors with their resistor pack on a street ported S4 TII.
I got the car started 3 times running a modded CAS and a single VR circuit and we were about to tune it when this happened. BTW Im in Panama city, Panama and this is the first rotary here with megasquirt. Fuel and spark.

ok so my question do I need part U7 34151 FET driver at all, can I just take it out since its shorted? I read that the driver is not needed since Im running high impedence injectors (stock setup w/resistors).

Also is there a way to improve protection on the v2.2 board? I did not build this unit as I bought it assembled from a friend so I dont know how it was assembled but it tested ok as far as I can tell. Im thinking about upgrading to the V3 version since its much more robust.

You have to have the FET driver no matter what. You don't need the Flyback board with high-impedance, but that doesn't come with the 2.2 board anyway.

The v3 board was designed partially to make the protection better than what's in the 2.2 board. I don't know of any easy ways to make the protection on the 2.2 board better.

thanks muythaibxr.

I'll be ordering 2 of those drivers (FET) soon if I can't find it locally. Anything else I should be looking for? this seems to be a common issue as I was reading that is good to have a couple of extra ones in the spare parts box.

Thanks
