before my install few ?

ok so igot a megasquirt with all thestuff i need to do to make it run with the stock cas an all that fun stuff. i have a adapter harness i got with the mega squirt. the guy who had it said he had his running an idle just never got a chance to tune it. just so you know its a 2.2v board with the lm1815 dual on it an all the good stuff. my main question is when i put it on the washer plug is on the emission harness. when i plug the mega squirt in is this going to kill my washers or will they still work.

also will it make a difference that i have s5 primaires an 850 low impedance secondaries should i leave the resistor box by the head light on the car cause im running right now with s5prims an s4seconds with a jumped resistor box. an i dont know if the mega squirt is able to change the settings to have two low imp an two high let me know

See http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/megasq...tockWiring.asp on how to preserve the wiper wiring.

As for your injectors, they all need to match. So you will need to wire resistors up to your low impedance injectors so all of them appear high impedance to the ECU.

You can use the stock sensor, but with the 2.2 board and MS1 it is far easier to just use the GM sensors. Otherwise you need to change bias resistors and reflash the firmware with EasyTherm.

ok will do. Also on the water sensor can i use the plug on the back of the neck. The one for the water thermo an just tap it a little bigger to fit the gm on or is that used on the mega squirt. thanks for helping me aaron your a good guy.

There isn't a lot of room to tap on the back of the water pump housing, and to do so, it needs to be removed from the car. That's why I generally tap the front.

Haha, to me changing a resistor and reflashing firmware is FAR easier than tapping a new location for the water sensor. I can change the resistor and flash the firmware in 10 minutes!

That's very true - but - have you priced the Mazda sensors lately? $$$$ I went with the GM option primarily due to needing to replace a flaky OEM Mazda sensor. An $11.00 sensor, an $18.00 inline adapter in the top hose and a 0.25" hole drilled in the thermostat plate and I've never looked back.

Intake air temp for my 87 TII is $44 my cost as a mechanic. Retail on it was well over $60. That was going 3rd party. I didnt even bother as Mazda told me the list was $80-something. Stock sensors are horribly overpriced.

ALL HAIL THE MS!!!!!

It is likely a laptop issue.

Are you using a built in serial port or a USB to serial adapter?

Do you have a straight through serial cable?

its a serial to usb. like its the one that plugs into the db9 on the megasquirt an then plugs into the computer. im starting to think its the plug but when i plug it in the back it prompts me on the corner an says new hardware found an ready.

Did you install the drivers?

What COM port is it on?

In Device Manager, access the properties of that COM port and in the Advanced window, crank the buffers down as small as they will go.

COM1 is almost certainly used internally by the laptop for an internal COM port or for a modem. Set the USB adapter to something else.

It depends on the USB to serial adapter. In Device Manager, open up the properties of the USB to serial adapter. On one of the tabs will be an "Advanced" button. Usually in there you will find the COM port assignment. Pick COM4. While you are there, crank down the buffers.

Aaron can't make it simpler. Stop overthinking (?!) the situation and follow his instructions step by step.
