Back to basic tuning...

I thought I'd be a wise guy and install a full range TPS sensor insted of using the stock TPS that comes with the rx-7. My reason was I just couldn't find a good one in any salvage yard or friends garrage. So I used the one from a 1999 Mazda 626. I got it to work just fine with megasquirt but I think it's leading me down a bumpy road.

Now I'm using settings I found on the net so naturlly I didn't expect a perfect setup, and the results I got I'm happy with. Now it's time for me to taylor it to my car.

I did a datalog today about a 5 minute cruise around my neighborhood, stayed out of boost, kept an eye on the laptop readouts and I noticed a few things. With only about 40% tps signal my injectors are maxing out there pulsewidth around 4200 rpm. I'm guessing it has to be my inital settings but I dont know where to start.

I'm going to leave you with my .xls file and a list of things i have hooked up. Only because some items read 0 or some things i'm not using have erratic behavior.

I only have the coolent temp, air manifold temp, tps, cas, map, both coil packs, and O2 hooked up.

I set my injector opening time from 1.1 to 2.0 and noticed a huge diffrance. I'm trying to remember what I have read in older threads while I was still trying to figure out how to assemble the megasquirt and other guys were tuning.

I doubt that your opening time is really 2.0

Most high impedance injectors are right around where you had it set before. IF setting the opening time to 2.0 helped that much, you were probably running too lean before.

There is still alot i need to read and tinker with my settings to see the results... I had the car running awesome today with 5 lbs of boost. All I did was get fuel and now it's running like crap. it had 87 in it and now it has 89. I think it has slot to do with my timming, been playing with it all day. It was running at 14.5 afr all day, that didn't change even after fueling up but now It has major power loss and I can hear what sounds like pinging comming from the engine under a load. Needless to say I drove about 1 mile to my home doing about 5mph when it all started.

Where can I look to learn more about setting the timing up for a turbo car? I was looking at the megamanual and i cant find anything about it. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place...
