Air by-pass?

86 na v3 m1 has any one tried just hooking up the air by-pass relay pin 1c to the mega squirt pin30 for a fast idle warm up feature instead of the bac valve or does it create to much of a vacuum leak for the map to handle? I tried to turn it on my stock set up and the rpm jump up to 2000 but it surges between 2000 and 1500 maybe with some type of orifice u could get it more like around 1200-1300?

The method you describe would work fine as a single-step fast idle, but obviously with a fixed restrictor in the circuit to drop rpm down to your desired range. The surging in the 2k range you are seeing at present is likely due to a lean area in your VE table. It's an area that's often overlooked when tuning, as in normal driving you only get then when coasting. The map-based system doesn't care about vacuum leaks, as fueling is provided based on map, not afm/maf reading.
