20B with a megasquirt??

was wondering if anyone has done a 20B 3 rotor with a megasquirt?
for some reason i keep picturing a 6 piston motor firing sequence. and as far as the crank would have a rotor power stroke at every 30 degrees but THATS just my guess ... im trying to find all that i can about this 20B but there is still a lot about it that is still unclear to me.

i was planning on doing a project like this in the coming future...

cant seem to find anything on the 20B's as far as a spark timing table for this kind of motor...

i was thinking maybe i would have to use a duel vr setup on this one UNLESS there is a way to do like a missing tooth setup on this motor. i never seen the CAS on a 20b

most likely i would be running fuel and spark with the megasquirt..

any info would be great.

I have seen some youtube videos of a member on this board running VEMS on a 20B, I think his screen name is along the lines of Bcool or somthing like that.

If I recall correctly, VEMS is based off of MS so there's no reason MS can't run a 3 rotor. I'm certain, however, that you only have leading ignition when running a 20b. There's no code that I know of to run 3 rotor trailing.

i found this in the 20b forums.

The MegaSquirt isn't going to make it into the new project and will be replaced with the Haltech E11v2 I ordered last week. Unfortunately you can't control the leading/trailing split on a 3-rotor application with the current software. The only other way to do it using the MS would have been to fire the leading and trailing plugs at the same time, which is risky on a turbo application!

i could live with firing the leading and trailing together being that i would rather run the 20b as an na setup.. reason for being na would for the use that i can drive on the streets and not loose all controll lol.

im using a 3.0 MS with i think the software is 29y4? i think thats what its called which is running my turbo 2 motor in my fc and is using the missing tooth setup

think i can use the same software for the 20b?

i will build another ecu just for this car.

If it was a turbo 20b I personally would do away with trailing ignition all together, if I really wanted to run a megasquirt on it. Since every event happens in 360 degrees on a rotary, a stock or modded CAS would work.

Maybe they'll write the trailing ignition code for the 20b in MS2? Can't hurt to ask the forum mod. , they seem to accommedate other ignition setups on the MS forum that have been requested. Failing that I'm guessing you could maybe work a fixed split setup using a ford edis6 setup.Renns ran/ is running a fixed split setup like that on a 13b with a pair of edis4 modules.

I'd agree that for now you could just not run trailing. The rotaries I've had have all run fine leading-only anyway.

We could probably add 3-rotor trailing support to ms2/extra... is it just 6 COP outputs?

hmm, if that is the case i could do the single vr sensor after all if just doing the leading plugs only.
the trailing is just for a more uniform burn"cleaner" burn if my memory serves me correctly.

i can use a modded CAS from a 2nd gen cause i have extra ones.

Ken does this help?

rotor#1@ TDC rotor #2 rotor #3
1 3 2
4 6 5
7 9 8
10 12 11

this is my guess on the teeth firing stages in terms if i can do it with a single VR and missing teeth setup with a missing tooth .
like my T2 with the 1 , 3 , 7 , 9 .
