To my knowledge you can't buy them new. Even if you could, you would balk at the price... They ran over $4000 when last sold. And, no, that is not a typo.

The only aftermarket ones I have seen are modern drive-by-wire replacements. Not an upgrade for the faint of heart amd require an aftermarket ECU.

There, at least at some point, were upgraded OEM ones you could get in Japan, but they required sending in cores which, thesedays, is prohibitively expensive. Plus, if you had a working one to send, you probably wouldnt be asking in the first place. And you didn't get anything approaching 'new' for the money. They just honed out the core for a way-too-high price.

OEM ones are common second-hand for $200-400. Really good-looking ones can fetch double that. If you are dead-set on a New (or new-ish) one, get a Used one and send it to JP3 who will make it better-than-new with their TB restoration aervice, but at a $1000 pricetag. Still WAY, WAY cheaper than new from Mazda ran.

Machining an adapter plate would allow you to run any kind of GM aftermarket throttle body you'd like. I don't think there is any available manual throttle body that will bolt up to the FD intake without an adapter.

Are you hard stuck on manual throttle bodies, or are you willing to move to a DBW setup?

Easily, yah. People have made more power than that on the stock throttle body.
