Description:

Looking for a few final pieces for my build. Closed the other 2 threads to consolidate.

I currently have a stock FD rear end with 4.77 ring/pinion with ~68k miles. Ultimately I would like to have the stock 4.1 with OS Giken differential. i would however be willing to trade a complete 4.10 stock diff(in good working order) for the one off of my FD if anyone has interest.

Would be willing to buy the OS Giken diff separately. part MZ101-HA

Also looking for a Sakebomb water/meth tank for the trunk. Please let me know what you have available.

Thanks,

Eric

Bump. Sakebomb still showing backorder for tank.

RHD Japan has the diff for a good deal, but have to pay import taxes. If I am reading the DHL calculator correctly, it should be a 10% import tax? Has anyone imported a part from Japan recently? Screen shots below of the Tariff code.

""• National Consumption Tax (NCT): (7.8% (Total value of product, freight and insurance + Customs Duty)) in JPY
• Local Consumption Tax (LCT): (2.2% (Total value of product, freight and insurance + Customs Duty)) in JPY"

I have brought in quite a few things from Japan lately. From a lot of OEM parts all the way up to a GReddy VMount. Plus my other hobbies involve a lot of transactions with SE Asia and Eastern Europe.

The long and short of it -- The only way you should do it at all is if the seller is including the tariffs in the price and providing that to the carrier on your behalf.

Otherwise you have ZERO clue what you will be charged. Yes, the tariff RATE is fixed by law. What is not are the litany of fees the brokerages will charge you. This can make the actual effective rate anywhere from 25% to even 100% or more.

You have no control over what they are, they will change wildly from one shipment to the next, and you MUST pay the fee else the item is destroyed. Some brokerages will release the item immediately and then surprise you with a tariff bill months later and they aggressively collect on these.

If you absolutely want to roll the dice, DO NOT ise UPS as the shipper. Their brokerages are the worst bh far. FedEx has been less surprising. DHL has been the most fair with charging only fairly realistic fees on top of the tariff. But it is a total crap shoot really.

So RHDJapan, Blackhawk, etc that do not collect and remit tariffs... just don't use them unfortunately. Nengun will collect and remit tariffs, but their brokerage charges 30-75%. eBay sellers are the best bet in my experience. Good ones like SHO-TIME and SPICE will get you your stuff at reasonable rates ( by declaring very low values as eBays shipping docs allow you to use any value you want, not the value of the sale). And are often willing to get you something they don't have listed for sale. Especially if you have done business with them before

I have a number of the OEM Canada spec headlight washer fluid holding tanks that go in the same space as the Sakebomb unit.

Let me know if you want to give one of those a shot.

BTW. The automated tariff calculator "Zonos" can be used for packages coming through the postal system. I wonder if the Japan shipper can access that, or if they even think to use Japan Post.

From Canada, once you have a Zonos account you just submit a pic of the item you are selling and Zonos AI will guess what it is and provide the tarriff amount. You may have to edit the AI guess (such as country of origin), but that is easy.

So far Zonos has valued the items at about 25% of the selling price. So tarriifs come out pretty small.

You pay Zonos the tariffs and Zonos sends you a code to present at the post office,.

The freight is through DHL it seems. I might shoot RHD an email to see if the will classify it correctly.

Bump.

Waiting to hear back from RHD Japan on if they will classify my order correctly. Since they go through DHL for freight, they need to classify it correctly or its on me.

Also waiting to hear back from Sakebomb on the V1 vs V2 tank difference.

Nice tank, that's what I use for WI in my Touring, so I can keep the rear wash nozzle functional. How much are they nowadays?

Even though they were only a Canada/European option, these OEM extended dual tanks drop right in under tail light bulkhead on US FD's. You don't even know the 2nd tank is there behind the plastic cover, once installed, with just the one filler cap poking through. I had one in my USDM 1993 touring.
