Description:

1987 Mazda RX7 Sport Package
I am the original owner.
473k miles
2nd engine with 280k miles
Interior clean
New 660 CCA Battery (feb 2026)
Tire with over 50% life

 The Good:

Body and paint in very good condition, never been in humidity or winter salt treatments.
Does not burn more oil than normal.  I change the oil every 3500 miles and it is down only 1 qt.

 The Bad:

Runs very good, but suspect compression is down and will need a new engine.  Startup is beginning to stumble, but runs very good after an initial 30 seconds.    Electrical system is in need or work.  Dash lighting & AC/Heat fan doesn’t activate.

Very good project opportunity!

Absolutely incredible. Goes to show these cars can in fact last a long time.

Love that the aero package still seems to be intact, minus the duckbill of course. What IS that wing?

It goes to show when you take good care of something, it can last. Other than routine things, this car for 2700 lbs has been a tank and unbreakable. The rear spoiler was offered by the dealer as a local body shop add-on option that I bought. It also came with lower ground effects bolt-ons that I did not buy. But I think this rear wing cleans up the appearance better.

This car has been nothing but fun. Used as a daily commuter to work mostly. The car has also treated me well with hardly any problems and nothing major. The engineering and manufacturing had to be outstanding. It is from Hiroshima, so maybe there's something more to it!!!

Just for giggles, next time you cold start it prime the pump 3 or 4 times and then go to start it. See if it starts easier. Absolutely incredible car with that many miles in that condition. You are a rare owner for sure. What are you looking to get after this?

Retiring to a lake resort, so a boat and golf cart. 2 years ago sold a 500 hp FD that I primarily tracked. It had frightening power, but absolute adrenaline rush.

First I want to thank all the replies to this ad and requests for more information about this car. Over 5 serious requests for more information. And I especially want to congratulate Brady from St Louis for picking up the car in Denver today. Brady responded within the first 24 hrs of this ad being up and sent a deposit to hold it until he could arrange to pick it up. This was a win-win situation as I needed to unfortunately sell this magnificent car and Brady is getting a tremendous deal and will certainly be very happy. Thanks RX7Club!
