I have a 4.77 in my FD now and it is absolutely BONKERS. I love it very much. The only thing I'm not too happy about is highway cruising. 4k rpm on the highway to keep up with traffic is a little annoying. Outside of that, would highly recommend this. It changes the car entirely. Very similar to a high power b16 trans powered Honda.

Does the 4.77 affect the speedometer read-out at all, or confuse the ecu?

I have this in my car and yes it throws the speedo off a lot. You will need to recalibrate. The ecu doesn't use speed for anything that im aware of but from what i understand it gets the speed signal FROM the cluster anyway. So recalibrate the speedo and the ecu will follow suit

You would have to get the pinion professionally lengthened and use the turbo 2Diff. There are 2 sources that do this work for road race cars running a 5.12 Jesse Prather motorsports and Steve eckridge.
