Description:
Selling my stock take-off exhaust from my 1994 RX7 R2.
I bought my car new in 1995 from Hackensack Mazda in NJ. At the time, no one was buying these cars, and my car was a new leftover from 1994.
I bought the car with a sole purpose to hone my driving skills with SCCA time trials. I joined the Eastern Motor Racing Association (EMRA), and enjoyed my car at the tracks of Bridgehampton, Pocono, Rockingham, and Lime Rock.
The exhaust I’m selling is the original stock main cat section and cat-back section. I took these off in the summer of 1995 with less than two thousand miles on the clock. These have been stored in a climate controlled indoor environment since removal from the car.
I live in NJ just outside NYC, and would prefer a face to face meeting for sale. I had considered scrapping the cat and exhaust, but it would kill me to destroy a rare and original FD exhaust system. My price is firm at $1000, which I think is very fair, and I will not sell them separately.
For those wondering why I’ve kept them all these years, I am a car collector/enthusiast at heart, and have had many high performance cars over the years. I have modified almost every car for sport/track, and have always kept the take off parts. Now I’ve come to the time to finally start going through everything and selling, and that’s why I’m here. Thanks for looking.
It was simply incredible. My car was in the STGT class, and I often found myself on the track with some M3’s, Viper GTS, and once at Bridgehampton an F40.
I can remember once at Bridgehampton, an older gent told me that Dan Gurney never lifted at turn 1. At the time I found that hard to believe, considering turn 1 for me was closing on 130, and it was a slight dip downhill then 90 degree turn right. Straight ahead was a giant sand dune, and I sure as hell didn’t want to bury my car in it.
Edit: Out of curiosity I looked up Bridgehampton to see what it’s like today. It is very sad what happened to that track… a golf course of all things. It changed from one of the most exciting things you can ever do, to one of the most boring 😑
Anyway, here’s a couple pics, approaching turn 1 (the bridge), and past it. Not quite 90 degrees as I remembered, but absolutely thrilling to say the least…
