Description:

Widening my search here, I would prefer a stainless steel downpipe, so I'm putting this up before I pull the trigger on the mild steel options that are available.

I'm looking for a JDM-style downpipe with the cast piece designed to clear the steering shaft on RHD cars. Must be stainless steel and must have the transmission mount at the back. New or used is fine, even better if it is already ceramic coated.

There are a few brands that fit the bill, I know of Revolution and RE-Amemiya, but there may be others.

Willing to pay for shipping, please PM or reply if you have one, thanks!

I think it is important to support the weight of the exhaust, otherwise Mazda wouldn't have put it there. Even the catless JDM OEM downpipes had it.

^ That IS a RHD downpipe. All RHD downpipes have the molded top piece designed to provide clearance for the steering shaft on RHD cars. Even on LHD cars, the RHD ("JDM-Style") downpipes have a more OEM fitment, which is why I prefer one for my LHD, rather than the straight tube design like Pettit, rx7store, etc.

The RHD downpipes are much easier to install and don't require removing any studs or unbolting the engine mounts. They also are more likely to have the transmission support at the back. These advantages are worth it to me over whatever slight compromise in flow there is from the shape of the top part.

Happy Meal, the HKS is not stainless steel so I will keep searching, I will keep your offer in mind though. Stainless is the best material for a downpipe, it is lighter than mild steel and has better thermal properties. Only downside is cost.

I know raceonly sells a SS JDM style downpipe:
https://www.raceonly.com.au/product/...wins-rx7-fd3s/

But I imagine with shipping it might come out to around 1k....

I agree with the choice of material though. My HKS DP split cleanly at the weld during a track day

I saw that downpipe when I first started searching, I wish there were some reviews of it because the quality/fitment is unknown.

It seems like a quality piece, the price is silly though. It looks like it would be $1,500+, if they even ship to the US.
