Update - 1 of the 2 sunroof motors just sold, still have 1 available.

Is this a common fail item? Mine has never worked but curious to start getting it working again

 

No, the motor units rarely fail - usually the cable mechanism gets corroded & janky over time and neglect, then things get jammed up. Try raising & lowering it with the manual crank - if the roof panel is still difficult to move, it confirms a buggered up mechanism and the motor is probably OK. if you don't have the manual crank that came with the car, IIRC a 6 or 8mm Allen wrench fits and can be used.

I may have some of the guides & brackets you need - I used 2 complete sunroof assemblies to restore the whole sunroof mechanism of my '89T2, and have a bunch of leftovers lying around. Need to know exactly what you need to figure out if I got what you're looking for. Recommend you grab a diagram from the Mazda FSM or the FC parts diagram (links to both available on the forum), highlight/mark up what you need on the diagram & shoot it to me in a PM so I can see if I can help. I'm currently out of town, so it may take a while for me to respond back.
