Reason: plus 2001 transmission detail
My response for full disclosure on the question above
"Do they think its pretty damaged inside or going to need more than a basic rebuild?"
I do not think its pretty damaged inside. I do not know if it needs a rebuild, or what would be needed once you opened it up. The engine is sold as is with no express or implied warranty.
I have the compression numbers from the shop, and a verbal "engine's good; take a few compression points off the reading for it being read outside off the car"
Neither of us, the shop or myself, would be able to speak to the conditions of the internals without tearing it down.
I have had an awesome time with this engine - let's get this thing back in an RX-7!
So you removed it in perfectly running condition and that compression test is recent? Your description seems like you know something is up but leaving yourself plausible deniability. Either it was good when removed and still good or you know there is an issue. What’s the deal?
You are putting nefarious undertones on the common phrase "as is, no warranty", but I appreciate you clarifying. The engine was removed in good running condition with no known issues, and the compression test is recent.
Rich has first dibs for a client, dj, but PM me and we can discuss payment and pickup logistics if that falls through
