Description:

I recently pulled the radiator and oil cooler out of a 1980 RX7 in the junkyard.  Thought some of my local racing buddies might have been able to put them to good use.  Turns out not so up for sale here.  The radiator looks almost new and the oil cooler also seems to be in very good condition.  The inlet and outlet bungs are not cracked as is typical in the early coolers.  Someone (Frogman) who had pulled stuff off the car before I got there, said there was oil all over, but I can find no evidence of a cooler leak.

The 3-row radiator was, I believe, originally meant for the auto tranny version.  They seem to be NLA.  I used one in my racecar (Pro7, ITA) for about 10 years before it got plugged up enough to need repair/replacement.  Because I couldn't find a 3-row at that time, I converted to a full length Koyo.  It should bolt right into 1979-1983.  It could also be used in 84-85 if converting to FMOC.  The surface area is about 20% less than the 84-85 tall radiator, but the FMOC mounted beneath it is in a much better location than when mounted in front of the radiator, so the overall cooling works.

I shipped a couple of radiators a while back and it is a pain to pack up, so I do not want to go down that road (at least at this point).  The radiator and oil cooler are available for pickup in San Diego area for $120.

I can send more pictures if desired.

Sorry. I should have modified the post to say that the oil cooler is gone.

I didn't realize that Spec7 was still alive anywhere. Are there many cars in your area?

If you decide you'd ship it, I'd be interested in the radiator. Thanks.

I remember there being a big group at Summit Point when I was still running Spec7 in the Southwest 15-20 years ago. I haven't seen a Spec7 on track here in a very long time. Glad they are still going strong out your way.

Do you have another set of mounts for the oil cooler to bolt up to the bottom of that radiator?
