i havent been on this forum since 2014 even though i still own both my fd's.
currently have both versions of the tails, but love the 99 spec more.
came back hoping to find a set of tail lights for sale and ran across this thread.
a couple questions about your product.
1. how does it look with the lights on at night?
2. do they still look blacked out when you hit the brakes?
3. have you compared them side by side with the actual 99 spec?
can you post a vid of them to answer my questions?
thanks in advance

Your questions will help others as well so thanks for asking!
1. "How does it look with the lights on at night?" They look fantastic! Indistinguishable from the Mazda set.
2. "Do they still look blacked out when you hit the brakes?" Definitely not, they are bright as can be. You may be referencing how they look dark on the table, this is due to the lighting in the photo. Mazda used black plastic caps that went over the red and orange pieces. These are vinyl instead of plastic which is the main difference.
3. "Have you compared them side by side with the actual 99 spec?" I can take a photo to share tonight, I think you will be impressed! I had the red lens from a 99 spec that I made these from which gave me full confidence. From there, the smaller size and placement of the orange circle was clear and simple to complete.
I will plan to take photos tonight showing a comparison to the OEM '99 spec tails and a photo with the brake lights on. Please let me know if it suffices, thank you!

on the brake lights, what i meant was, when they are activated, does the light bleed through the vinyl?
hence why i was asking if there was a comparison video.

That is a great question as well! I can confirm that no light will bleed through the thick 3M vinyl or around the lens. I suggest everyone to check out the installation video above which will demonstrate how the vinyl completely surrounds the side of the lens. This is the secret to eliminate light bleeding around the lens. Next time my buddy has his car out I will try to get a side by side with lights on as well!
Conversion kit in action:
Left: Conversion kit
Right: OEM '99 Spec (with a top spoiler)
It was difficult to get a good comparison photo without glares and without skewed angles but I can verbally confirm that they are visually a direct match for size and placement. It is very pleasing to see a cost effective conversion look just like the real deal!

Nice kit here!
Just to add an alternate install idea as well, for those who don't want to place in the oven, a heat gun will also work.
Key is to not be crazy and melt the plastic by keeping it in one spot, but it'll save you from the complaining from wife or mom about contaminating the oven with auto plastics haha...

These look great, much better quality compared to what I have seen people do with paint. I am definitely interested but I just want to confirm this is still happening before I send payment.
