QUOTE=c0rbin9;12465729]I'm looking to buy a base/R1/R2 in good condition with factory twins. Stock is good, but also open to lightly modified examples. Vintage Red preferred. Located in Texas, but also willing to travel!
I have been an admirer of the FD for many years but have never owned one - am finally able to buy one and would like to start with a good example.
Please reply or PM if you have anything you're willing to let go that fits this criteria. Thanks![/QUOTE]

Nice, I’ve been following that on bring a trailer this week. I’m interested to see what it goes for here in the next hour or so.
If it wasn’t on the west coast, it would fit exactly what I’m looking for. I need more of these to pop up in the Midwest.

I'm getting pretty excited about bidding on it. Plan would be to reverse some of the mods (short shifter, intake, head unit) and catch up on deferred maintenance.

Just wanted to update this... I did not win the auction for that R2. So still looking. Have also realized I prefer the '93 dash style vs the '94+, though would not turn down an R2.

IMO there are enough improvements in the 94-95 vs 93 that an R2 is preferable to an R1. I've owned cars of all model years and even the way the doors close feels cheaper on the 93s. Sucks that you missed out on that R2!
I think Mazda added some foam inside the door to make it sound less hollow when closing.

Six months from starting this thread, I finally purchased my grail FD last Friday, a stock '93 R1 in Vintage Red. I will be making a build thread on the car after it arrives from California documenting the little maintenance things I do as well as the detailling/preservation work (needs a paint correction and PPF). Thank you to everyone who sent me links to candidates over the past few months.
