1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE; VIN:JM1FB3329F0884421; 185k miles; still runs and drives great! Regularly maintained. $5000 OBO. Engine: 13B 6P Rotary w/RE-EGI — very good compression (129/130 psi at ~170k miles).
Replaced parts from most recent: replaced rear hatch seal with a new OEM replacement part to address water leakage in the rear deck area, battery (NAPA Legend), re-manufactured alternator, alternator belt, windshield, both window glass run channels and door window seals, rear window lift strut, K&N air filter, stock exhaust replaced with Racing Beat complete header-back exhaust system (PN 16421) — significant horsepower increase, custom-built driveshaft with replaceable U-joints, re-manufactured starter; new clutch installed and transmission rebuilt at 123k miles (using Royal Purple in transmission and rearend).
Other upgrades: Michelin Defender T+H 185/65-14 80k tires with 16k miles; Alpine CDEHD149T top-of-the-line stereo with Alpine amp, front/rear Focal speakers (still have OEM cassette stereo); DEI Python 1000 alarm system w/starter kill, proximity sensor, rear deck lid and driver door lock actuators. Custom fuel pump switch.
General functionality/repairs: Both power windows work and regulators have been replaced/refreshed; spare window regulator. Both headlight retractors, both power mirrors, cruise control, front and rear wipers, air conditioner work. Front windshield washers work. Rear washer does not but reason unknown. Oil cooler has been repaired and good spare oil cooler included. Repaired small hole in floor pan in rear deck — replaced both rear compartment steel frames due to water damage — rear deck interior after photo included.
Known issues: Oil leak from engine dowel pin O-ring — have not had to add oil between regular 3000-mile oil changes over last three years. Steering gear box needs overhaul due to 3/4-inch in/out movement in steering column — this condition has existed for many years and not caused steering problems. Right turn signal flashes fast. Needs complete exterior paint and minor dent repair. Front valance fairly chewed up. When I replaced the rear hatch seal last year, I noticed the seal support flange next to the lower water channel had some corroded spots on the upper edge. I sanded the entire flange and sprayed with 3M anti-rust paint before installing new seal. Flange photos included.
Other notes: Receipts for major work and parts installations and most replacements available. Carfax/AutoCheck accident listing from 2014 involved minor incident with bicyclist—no other collisions.
In 24 years, I have driven this car 123k miles. She has never quit before I reached my destination except when I ran her out of gas (2x) and a rebuilt alternator died. This car has been and can still be a daily driver but it needs TLC — time, labor (of love), and cash/credit. This car has spent its entire life in Washington state and currently resides in Seattle area. Buyer must pay for the cost of getting this car from Seattle WA to its new home. Test drives available in Seattle area only with advance arrangements.
