This is too funny..I think this is my first post sorry but it is a bit long..but I am replying to 20 pages of comments...lol. I am looking to move onto another project car and always loved the RX7 so I came on here looking for info etc.
While surfing I find this thread...hey, it looks like this weekend it might have actually gone down the big meet and greet?!?! We should have the results soon right?
You guys sure are haters..yeah, rototech could use some english lessons, obviously not his first language, and barely got out of high school..but whatever.
Some comments I have:
First video against the vette, well, I have seen a lot of vettes do two things, spin tires smoking crazy..or bog down..they are hard cars to launch. Not his fault dumb corvette can't launch..that is typical. With all that weight up on the front and none in the rear, hard to get great 0-60 times...it isn't a Porsche GT2.
Evo video..you guys need to do some simple searching, stock EVO only has 280HP and already boosts 20psi tapering to about 16-17 at redline..so 23psi isn't much more with his mods and tune, so that puts it at maybe mid-low 13s for the EVO in that video...and rototech (or whoevers car that is) obviously walked him easily him by the sounds of the air moving around the car and video.
The drag video...that mazda is very fast off the line. One thing to note, he doesn't appear to have suspension mods..when the car launches, the weight actually transfers way back onto the rear tires, giving him better launches/traction in my opinion. If he had coilovers etc..I would surmise his tires would spin much more easily...although he says he does spin them. Ok..whatever.
Lastly, C5 stock vettes are not fast at all. Only the latest C6 is getting fast, like low 4sec 0-60. And they are still mid-high 12sec 1/4s. Heck, a 2006 C5 Z06 can runs 3.9 0-60 and 12.2 120mph 1/4. They are not supercars...for the money, very respectable and fast, but C5 are very high 12s cars until you put FI on them. A 6cyl M3 will be just a tick off a C5 0-60 and quarter mile and they weight 200lbs more!!! Doesn't say much for the stock V8. I guess detuned and gas mileage standards are the issue or whatever Chevy lovers want to say.
Anyway. the RX7 has a clear weight advantage..you need a boosted C5 or stock Z06 to run with a car that is nearly 500lbs+ lighter, plus it depends on gas in tank, weight of driver/temperature outside..etc..I mean seriously, he could have nearly a 600lb weight advantage...that is like 150WHP right there.
Anyway...curious to see the results..judging by the one track video, rototech has a mid 12 second car depending on his gearing and top-end...if it fades, 12.7/12.8

And you can make up all of the excuses you want, but the point is this- either A. he's lying about his mods, or B. the cars in the vids are NOT his. Just that simple. Stock port, stock fuel, stock ECU, stock turbo TII's do not run 12's. Period.

Never said I believed his car was stock, you guys are the "experts". Not I.
Just made some corrections/comments to misinformation about the EVO/C5 myths that were propogated. Not hard to believe those videos at all.
Maybe the guy is a liar, don't know. Maybe his car is stripped of 150 more lbs. Don't know. Nobody ever asked that information to put it on a scale. He has cheap small wheels, that probably weight 15lbs each. That is a lot of unsprung weight/inertia he has less to overcome then some 19" bling wheels on a C5. You have asked for just about everything else but a colonoscopy exam from him. That's all I am saying.
That is why I am subscribed for the past weekend update...or maybe disappointment again. We will see.

^I understand where you're coming from, but even if his wheels only weighed 2lbs each, he's still not gonna pull on a C6 like that with a stock engine/ecu/turbo. Its just not going to happen. The drag video- that car probably has in excess of 300hp at the wheels, a power not obtainable with rotatech's claimed setup. Also, each video leaves something to be desired (i.e. an ending showing the final outcome) and they all appear to just be ricer flyby's if you ask me. Looks like the vid against the vette was not propogated, just the vette taking off normal while the blue FC gets on it. Of course he's gonna pull on the vette in such a manner. You can hear the vette's engine at really low RPM while the FC is giving it hell, but then you hear the LS2 open up and the gap starts to close rather quickly, right before the vid is over.

well the times he gave me from the track seem pretty quick. then again hes got a shitload of suspension work as he a dig man and my car is mainly for the highways
