My First Race - My FD vs Evo
My FD is pretty much stock, only things is 3" downpipe, full HKS exhaust, well.....JDM 96 engine and HKS BOV. I dunno what the EVO had, but he had BOV. On freeway, i fly by him on a small turn, and i'm sure he notices. I let him catch up, and we roll about the same speed (80mph). I see his weight shift to the back, which means he downshifted. So i just leave it on 5th gear and step on it. As soon as I see him pull away a little bit, I just freaking downshift and take off! After like 5 seconds he's about 5 cars behind, and doesn't want to catch up to me after i've slowed down. My first race, and i love my car

Good kill i guess. Really it is to be expected.. Evo on a roll is its weakness. Too much drive train loss..
If you want a more fun race, try it from a dig..
A stock FD should be able to pull on a stock evo pretty easy from a roll...

you're poor so you're running full exhaust without an ECU???????
my recommendation: at least put the stock cat back on until you can do things right.

Um... The US never got the evo until 2003.. The reason it became popular is because we actually get the car.. It would be the same for any sports car that the US was denied for many years.
While i agree there are too many dumb kids that have parents that will buy them an evo.. The same can be said for the RX-7... This forum has completely gone to **** compared to the wealth of information that use to be on here. There are like 10 stupid "How do i drift my XX" a day.

take the subaru RS, when that car came out in the late 90s only engineer type people bought them because they were fast and reliable. this is what i was told at the dealership during a test drive as they were surprised to see a young person interested in the car. so we did have turbo'd econoboxes here, just nobody cared.

my friend just bought an evo 8 and he has a few bolts on on it already. its pretty quick and a blast to ride in. ive neevr felt anything stick to the road so well. he cant get the damn thing to launch off the line though. it always boggs down. we suspected hed have to drop it at a really high rpm, but he is paying over $30k for it so he doesnt want to risk messing it up.
theres a guy in town with an 06 mustang gt that keeps talking junk about the evo but wont race it.

The RS was not turboed.. If it was i would have bought one.. it was a 2.5L NA..
The 1st turbo one we got was the WRX.. And i bought it when it came out in 2002.
But i do agree the movies also had a large impact on it..

My recommendation would be to pull the stock restrictor pills and run 7-9lbs of boost with full exhaust on stock ecu. It is proven to be safe and will make about 260-280whp
