foxbody 5.0 vs n/a FC
I don't race people to much because my car isn't exactly street legal but thats another thing. So I'm cruising to my buddies house when I notice a mustang coming up in my rearview pretty quick. At first I didn't think to much about it til he revved a few times, I was making a right anyway. So the light I'm at turns green and I go for it getting some good shifts til third when I misshift and the guy passes me. Think I would of had him til i screwed up my shift I caught back up to him. Now were at a light to make a left talk about bad starting points. I know my car can handle well but its a little picky about turns and accelrating, the back tends to kick. Again the light changes and were off, I nurse it through the turn and gun it. Getting the better spot at the light he was about a car length ahead but I closed the gap fast, took a quick look over smiled and took off leaving him in the dust. Finally one more light he pulls up and tells me that my car is fast and wants to know my power. I tell him 160hp and he just turns pale. Good times.

for mods there's a lot to list so I'll just give the majors. built engine minus balance and lightened rotarys, msd box, flywheel clutch plate and disc. Custom racing rear diff. Tein suspension upgraded pads and lines. weight reduction is removed rear half of interior.

I would chalk it up to mileage and poor maintence on the 5.0 driver, a friend of a friend got one with well over 200,000 miles on it (cant kill a good 5.0), took it to the dyno and it made 170 hp for a baseline. Today it has a supercharged 347 stroker that doesnt fit under the hood, and after getting the FI tuned pulled 650 ponies.

I dunno, they are supposed to be faster but I was always able to pull on them in my 90 GXL with headers. (On the highway and in 3rd gear only, they have a monster 2nd gear, the top of my 3rd would reel them in). Good run, be safe.

thanks I like the fact that the car accelerates so well now (with the 4:88) it sucked at the track when I couldn't break out of 4th. Can't wait to get the car to the track again and see how it does.
