Chevelle SS vs 350Z vs GTU

I was messin with my buddy. He got a 350Z with about $5000 in performance mods.

His friend pulls up behind me at the light. Nice Blue 70 Chevelle.

My buddy says I work with him, he says its 600 hp..Yikes..

So light turns green, I pull the 350z 1/2 fender till 2nd gear then were even. 3rd gear was really close, but he was 1/4 fender ahead. 4th gear he was pulling harder.

We stop run around 110.

The Chevelle had slicks, he smoked us both, that car was so fast, it was nothing but a mirage/kinda blurry and tire smoke, comin out the back.

We were never a race for him.

Wait wait wait. First, WTF can you spend $5000 on modding a 350Z with other then adding forced induction, maybe you are including random suspension and over priced ebay parts? Beyond that, the guy in the 350Z must have been pretty bad with his car, since I borrowed one for a few passes at PIR and was pulling 14.0-13.9 and even pulled into the 13.8 range after getting a handle on the launch (and that was being a cold driver and jumping in after doing a few passes in my RX-7).

I don't exactly know his mods, He said they were all Nismo parts, I could see the upgraded exhaust, and nice wheels.

But either way..he beat me..he is a cool guy, he likes the RX7, he was impressed I was hanging with him.

i used to study my350z.com as i now study this site(i had a z then). and $5000 in bolt ons.....ah, it can be done. if he really had all nismo parts then it could EASILY be $5000. any of the actually nismo stuff is stupid expensive, and offers minimal gains.(compared to other brands)

If he had ALL the nismo bolt ons, and was an EXCELLENT driver, he could see very low 13sec quarter mile times.

whats your car and mods?

There are some bad-*** 396 and 454 Chevelles running around that are impressive, to say the least.

common, look at the signature on this kid...it clearly states the GTU is well within the Z's 1/4 times...on a roll or a dig and a slight mistake thats your *** right there!!!!

thats a good et for a n/a FC! when i had my FC I only took it to the track one time and the best it did was a 14.8
I had bald tires and a lot of xtra weight but I also had a boatload of bolt ons(powerr and suspension).

Regardless, its good to see a FC hanging with a Newer model car...I've run G35s and they seem decent for a somewhat stock car lol

dam nice run but that chevelle idk his engine (probably 396) but by the sounds of what you said it seems like a race i did against my best friends uncles Camaro. He has a fully worked 350 (pushing 600) and when he launched on me he did a wheely and I shut my car off lol, but I told him to see me on a track. He cant get on one b/c he doesn't have a roll cage

How can a race between a 160hp RX-7 and a 280hp 350Z be so close? Or is your car modified enough to make it close?

Well I would think if you were at about 210 or above hp. It would be an interesting race. because you figure he if he is lucky is putting 260 to the ground (stock) and then if you factor in the weight of the 2 cars. it isnt even a full pound per horse off. The only thing is , you said that he has 5000 in mods.. I dont see where that would even be a close race thats just me, unless you have alot done.. but it is very hard to hit 210 plus whp in a n/a.

No, I mean the fact that hes pulling wheelies on the street with no cage.

He said the 350Z is running $5000 in mods... just basic mods pushes a 350Z down to 13.5 or even 13.2... an NA FC even with weight reduction and aggressive porting would have a pretty hard time pulling that on street tires. That is why I was asking.

There is a big difference between a 14.2 and a 13.5... I understand that he wasn't super serious about winning, but I was curious why the two were so close.

Hold on.

I said I lost.. I got my *** handed to me by the Chevelle. At least 10 cars lenghts.

1 car lenght equals 1/10 second. @ 100 mph so he was about 1 second or more faster..

The Nissan 350z Nismo I don't know what to say. He is the kinda person that sits back and laughs then smokes that ***.

Hes got them big ballers. But that Chevelle He said wasted him also, before they got me....

So It was nice to race something beside a Honda.

Facts are facts. I lost to both..WTF..

On another note. 5 tenths of a second only equals 1/2 car ahead. If you call BS then you have never race on a track.

Driver mod owns all. +10
