Ok I think this was a BS win... but still it was funny and I thought I would post it.. I was on my way back to FL from NC yesterday and had to stop in some place just outside of Florence SC... started going south on 95, but there was this black eclipse in front of me that just didn't want to speed up to get on the freeway... the way was clear.. looked to make sure there were no cops.. and I just took off.. Jumped over both lanes from the onramp.. and shook my head as I went by.. well... apparently he didn't like that and started to take off too... dropped it into 4th (which my car hates to do .. downshifting that is) and we both took off... I started to pull away.. and then *poof* traffic... neways... We stopped at the rest stop a little further down the road.. The only thing done to my car is the street porting that they did when they rebuilt it.. where as he had intake, exhaust.. and something else done to the engine ( I dun rememeber cause I drove 8 hours or more that day >.< ) ..... We talked for a little bit.. and my impression I got was that he let me win cause I was a chick... that's just my opinion... I want to know what ya'll think... Did I legitly win the race or did he do it just so he could try and get me to stop... cause he gave me his number... like I'd ever call him ? Either way I wanna know..

 

at first I just read the last part where it said he gave me his number and I thought he was ghey. Why does your car hate to downshift though? That doesn't sound good

 

No he's not gay... stupid yeah.. but I'm not sure why it doesn't like to downshift.... I've only had it up and running since July 21st.. and haven't decided what the problem is... but then again this is my first 7 and I have been told they're different in every way... if not then I think it could be the syncros (sp??!!).. but I haven't decided what it is yet...

I drive it like I do my other cars... however they're all Nissan's... I know how to downshift... Just this one is a pita to do so..

you realize that a 4 cylinder 3rd gen eclipse has as much power as an s4 N/A (147 vs 146) while weighing two hundred pounds more? It's no surprise you beat him, despite his mods. I'm sure the F/C has better gearing than the Eclipse and your street port still gives you a couple horses despite no other mods.

 

Ummm, yeah, that's how everyone around here drives. They go down the exit ramps like the car is about to break! Because they do that, they (and everyone behind them) aren't going fast enough to safely merge into traffic on the interstates. Of course, our wonderful Carolina highway engineers decided not to give us any substantial length to our (de)acceleration lanes.

Yah, I'd say you won. I'm not sure about the specs on the Eclipse, but I'm going to assume that arghx is correct, Here is the formula for your success:
aprox. the same hp + you're lighter - his horrible driving "skills" = You WON!
