CA Toyota owner looking to get an FC

Hi, I'm Devin and I live in Corona, California.
I currently own a 1977 Toyota Celica LB and I'm going to sell it to get a "newer" car, preferably one with AC so I don't die in the heat. I've been looking at many cars and have decided that I want an FC. I joined this forum to learn more about FCs.

here's a pic of the Celica (hopefully it's not too big)

I always like talking to new future rx owners. Do you plan on driving it as a daily or pushing it and doing mods?

The rx7s are addictive man! I reccomend one!
I have a daily rx7 and the ac makes the car hesitate a bit when on low rpms
I've heard that's normal for old cars. Maybe they newer ones are fine!(:

There is a 4 lug(cheaper) and 5 lug(better) versions just saying, and try to get one that has r134 already converted.

Some have lsd, some don't. The 5 lug will support the better stronger brakes n rotors. The na models have a weak tranny if your abusive compared to the turbo models... The turbos have all the best features........

I'll probably look for a turbo model then, I have a feeling that it would probably difficult to find one that hasn't been driven to the ground or extremely modded. Hopefully I can find one that is bone stock.

I got the same idea as you Devin, looking for a turbo model that won't cost me to much and one that I can put a few mods on. Seen any promising ones down in SoCal?

You really have to drive around and knock on doors.

Good luck Devin. Yea it gets really hot in these cars without A/C(My FD doesn't have A/C). But coming from California.. I couldn't imagine.

The heat from the engine alone tends to make things quite hot inside the car itself. I generally drive with the windows open all the time. Anything you can do to dissipate that heat from the engine bay is a huge plus I'm told.

The weight ****'s will tell you otherwise, but I have more fun in my n/a vert than I did in my TII(RIP). Being a downhill guy, the only huge disadvantage that I felt when downgrading from TII to vert is on the level-flats that await you on the other side of the hairpin. Until I am v-8-ed, I don't feel that I'll ever get the same push coming out of corners that I did back in the day. But maybe things were just faster back then because I was that much younger and stupiderer. Either way, have fun

I'm a Toyota owner too! I just recently picked up a project FC, premiumriceonly and I are building it from the ground up. I can tell you from first hand experience these FC's are extremely easy to work on. Everything is 10mm or 12mm bolt, I love it! Good luck on your purchase whenever you decide to purchase, and even though I'm a complete noob, welcome to the site

Good choice my friend, They are a great car!!

The only downfall that I have found so far is the engines, they are built for power not for reliability which to some is a big issue, but if your willing to put in the time and effort to look after the motor, you will have a long lasting weapon!
