OK heres the deal, i have just currently came back from japan, because my family was just stationed there due to the military(dads in the navy). I have owned 2 rx7s in japan, a 1994 and a 2000-2001 model. I loved both of them to death, unfortunately i had to leave japan. and come here in fort worth texas where i am currently shopping for any 93-94 rx7. i am still currently learning everything there is to an rx7 (i'm only 18, but have been around them since 12, working on them since 15). So please dont give me any crap about my age or anything, i know im still young and yes i am a speed demon, but not those posers that think slipping on a cold air intake and a muffler will make your car cool. I appreciate them alot and i get to know them before i go further into it.
So here is my situation:
i only know the japanese version of the rx7 and since being in japan where many dealers know how to take care of the car and replce anything and are familiar with what is wrong, how is the 94 model here in the US. How does it hold up and would it be suitable to daily drive it. I located a 1994 rx7 automatic transmission 104,000 miles but was rebuilt at 65,000. seals and hoses have been updated, everything is pretty much stock. would it be a good deal for $9000?
and im not buying it from a stuck up person or someone who neglected it.

thank you.

Welcome. I lived in Las Colinas for a couple years. There's an RX-7 club in DFW; I think they're called something obvious like "The Dallas-Fort Worth RX-7 Club" or so. I'm sure they could recommend several good mechanics who would be far less clueless than a dealership. I really have no faith in Mazda dealerships.

Given their age, I think FD's fine as every day drivers. They ARE 15 year old cars, and need a little more love and attention, maybe more so in Texas heat, but I find my FD pretty reliable. She's only acted up once.

$9K sounds ok. I'm not sure what the running price for a '94 is, but under 10K sounds good. Get a mechanical and compression test before you buy it, tho. Make sure the engine still IS good, even if it in theory only has 50,000 miles on it. Things can be over looked in rebuilt engines.
