Hello to the group! Must admit to being a Britmobile fanatic but have always
admired the design and possibilities of the Wankel engine. For many years
I've been wanting to perform an engine swap. Specifically putting
an RX7 drive train in an MG Midget. The time has come to get serious
about doing this. While I've been reading quite a bit about this (others
have already done it) I have many questions that only those
familar with RX7's will be able to answer.
My first question; which year/vintage RX7 would be best to consider
as a donor vehicle? Of course looking for max HP and minimum weight.
This may very well turn into a race car of some sort. Here's an
example of what another guy did;
Brian Kraus's 1976 MG Midget with 1986 Mazda 13B rotary engine

ps-I have no intentions of hacking up a nice RX7...will look for
one that is trashed
