Seeking acceptance in the rotary world.
Hello everyone.
Just trying to do the whole introduction thing as well as I can. Hopefully over time I can actually manage to be a productive member of this community.
Ok let's see. My name's Jeff.
College student and Costco employee.
Finally partially fulfilled the dream/goal of buying an Rx7.
Now the proud owner of a slightly worn 1991 Convertible. Loving it despite the problems the last owner left me with. Thankfully no really engine issues though it is high mileage so this may be a concern at some time.
Hard to admit but owning it has almost fully converted me from the old muscle car crowd.
It is a learning experience as my first car and first love was a 1968 Chevelle. I will always have a soft spot for the chassis twisting torque I used to have but well I think in the trade I've come off slightly ahead.
As such while basic mechanical stuff is no real issue for me I have alot to learn with the new engine type and I hope I'll pick up some good info here.
Long rant ended. Nice to meet you all.
I'm out.

Glad to have aboard, Jeff! The best part of the "trade-off" is the handling element. If my 68 'Birds play in the 3700 to 3900 lb range, I imagine the Chevelle is a bit heavier since it was a larger car. Like you say, the torque is great but the handling and the brakes on the RX-7's has always been exceptional even in stock form. It's very addicting.

Yea the handling is the big plus. It's kinda crazy having a car that has limits above my courage since I've been driving the Chevelle sideways in the dirt for something like 6 years. Fallin hard for the 7 though. N actually mine wasn't much heavier than that 3900lbs. Had practically nothing in it as far as options just motor tranny and 2 benches. Still having lost half a ton is another huge benefit.

When you drive the musclecar and then go to the RX-7, you have to adjust your driving style a lot. It's like stepping into a go kart since the '83 is only 2400 lbs.
Have fun! At least with the '91, you've already got the bigger, more reliable 13B rotary engine. Now, it's just a matter of trying to get some of the power back you had in the musclecar into that rexy!
