Second Time Owner in Louisiana

Hey guys/gals just wanted to introduce myself. First and foremost thank you to those responsible for putting together and maintaining such an informative site.

I've recently acquired my second RX-7, and may I add, one of my dream cars as a kid.........
My first RX-7 was 17 years ago and it was a 1979. We were the second owners of the car, bought in 1980, and it was handed down to me when I was in my 20's. The car was a garage queen all of it's life with us and would sit for weeks at a time between drives. As most of you know, sitting up was a big enemy to these old 12A's. When I finally got the car I took it on a little trip and low and behold she started smoking like a chimney down the interstate and 45 minutes later, the oil light came on. Well, I stopped and checked the oil and it was nearly out (it was full when I left) so I added a couple quarts and continued on. Needless to say I had to turn around and go back home - blown seals and all. After a rebuilt engine was put in I began researching ways to get more power. At the time, Racing Beat was one of the few places that provided performance upgrades for rotaries that I knew of. Keep in mind this was pre-internet. I did the full exhaust, Dellorto intake and finally a few years later, the automatic (the crutch) finally gave out from all the manual shifting I did with it. I decided I had enough and moved on to Mustangs.

Now back to my childhood dream car and my recent acquisition.....the 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE and she has every option available right down to the illuminated door lock. I'll give you a brief story about this car.......

I've noticed this car for years in town driving around and eventually parked behind a Mazda dealership for 3 years. Well, my brother eventually would work for this dealership, or should I say, the company that eventually purchased this dealership so I asked him to check into the story behind this parked RX-7. Turns out it was abandoned and they were trying to get the title to eventually try to sell it. (Let me add also that they could not figure out what was wrong with the car and tallied up a repair bill/estimate that must have sent the previous owner running for the hills) I told my brother that I would be happy to take it off there hands for $200. Six month to a year later it's mine for $300.

I will spare you the repair list and save it for a technical post but here I am a month and a half later and probably a tad shy of a $1000 total investment (including purchase prices and fees) and she is running pretty damn good minus a few issues that I cannot wait to address with you guys.
