Ryan from the Nashville, TN area. 1987 TII
I just picked up this fine quality, bone stock 1987 RX7 TurboII. Its got 53k original miles and everything is in great shape (sans a few missing pieces of interior and a small coolant leak ). The previous owner says the leak is near the back of the engine but he never had the time to repair it. It had basically sat in his driveway for about a year when he decided to put it up on Craigslist for 1800 bucks. Two days later while at work I had my brother go check it out for me - good man! My brother being a fairly knowledgeable RX7 owner for many years, gave it the once over for me and reported back with a thumbs up and excitedly encouraged me to go for it.
Now, I've always been a fan of the RX7s but I've never actually had the opportunity to pick one up for myself. I've always played around with a 300zx, a couple of 240SXs, an AW11 MR2, an EG6 Civic, an NB Speed Miata, and a crapload of ae86 corollas. Regretfully over the years I ended up selling every single car that I loved playing with for one reason or another. I've not had a fun car in, well hell, over a decade now... I've always wanted a 7, so I researched the possible causes of this leak using these very forums and determined that we can probably get it fixed up with a little effort. If I cant get it fixed myself, well it was 1800 dollaree-doos and I'd feel comfortable paying a mechanic to fix it at that price.

Thanks guys, I'll definitely let you know if I need some parts. My brother still has a parts car, but its an N/A base model. So I may indeed need some T2 parts at some point along the rebuild, and I appreciate the offer for sure.
That old ford is my brother's current project, it was a really good deal. It runs like hell and smokes so bad you cant see the truck when it idles, but I don't think he paid even 100 bucks for it.

Finally, hopefully, weather permitting I'm going to get to tear into it tomorrow afternoon. Its been raining on and off for the past week since I got it. Sadly I dont have a real garage to put it in, but I do have a slab of concrete roughly 250 yards from where my brother talked the tow truck driver into bringing it (backwoods and mud basically when wet). So fingers crossed for tomorrow, it'll be mostly solidified so I can push this bad boy to the slab and really get into it. I'm super excited and a tad leery of it. Already bought replacement vacuum lines, brake lines (on order), radiator lines, the interior pieces that were missing (except the window relay - forgot about that one), fluids, battery and random other bits that might've been eaten up with the decay of neglect. Super anxious to get things working and would really appreciate, when the time comes, some local knowledgeable insight and inspection if available.
