I'm from Declo, Idaho population 300. Been a car enthusiasts all my life. Owned a 1955 Chevrolet Couple, 1956 Chevrolet Couple, 1957 Chevrolet 2 door Sedan, 1958 Chevrolet Impala, 1958 Edsel, 1956 VW, 1974 VW Beetle that I restored.
One day saw a red sports car for sale at the side of the road near where I lived. Couldn't figure out what it was. Looked kinda like a Corvette, a Camero with slanted back window, a Porsche never the less a 2 seater. I actually bought the car for my granddaughter that needed a car for transportation. The car had oil caked on the drivers side and a heavy deposit of oil under the engine and frame of the car. Guy was at odds as to why it leaked so much oil. Bought it for $ 1,700 about 8 years ago. Titled the car. It smoked quite a bit after a cold start then the white blue smoke went away. Opened the hood to see if I could see where oil was coming from. Little did I know that I discovered this odd engine. On top of motor said 13B Fuel Injection. Lord and behold I learned that I had discovered something unusual and wanted to find out more about it. It was a 1986 Mazda RX7 Apple or Cherry red faded on the drivers side. The side that faced the sun in a back yard for however long it sat I don't know. When I found out that this was a Wankel rotary engine discovered in Germany by a man named Wankel I was excited to find out more about it. Later the patent was sold to Japan and that's when Japan took that rotary engine and ran with it. Made Proto-types and started a revolution engineering the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation RX7's . . . to compete with the Corvette, Porsche and Datsun 240Z.
As the story goes I fell in love with the car, it's engineering, it's motor and looks. The interior was factory original and in more than excellent condition.
Later I ran across a 1980 Mazda RX7 Leather Sport Edition (very rare) that's still a work in progress. I will try and post pictures of these.
