After my first engine transplant (and most recent) I had a lot of problems initially with the cooling system springing leaks! Now I must admit I did plug off some "unnecessary" coolant lines from plenum but I didn't realize how great the pressure of the 2nd Gen RX7 coolant system was! After using circle clamps and some rubber hose plugs it finally sorted itself out. However, I still do smell coolant when I have been running my car hard for a while.

LONG STORY SHORT: I would like to know of your coolant systems woes; the whens, whys, and hows. Also, what did you do to remedy these issues, and do any of you use additives?

I had a similar problem after I put in a Koyo radiator. One after the other a line would spring a leak and I would have to replace it. Eventually I replaced every line in the car and it no longer leaked

Moral of the story is it's probably best to just do an entire coolant system revamp instead of replacing one at a time.

One place that may be leaking coolant on you and is hard to see is underneath the throttle body.

I am hoping to get the Racing Beat upper and lower molded silicon radiator hoses, I have replaced almost every line or plug that is in the car, but every once in a while when it's warm I can smell coolant... I don't know if it's just my mind playing tricks though because my buddy says the car smells like the engine is warm not leaking.

The car is a long term project with a lot to be done. Currently I am doing body filler along all the dime sized dings gathered from 1986 until now lol. There will be much sanding done, but after it's blasted i'm going to post pictures.
