I have a 1985 GLE with the 12A motor and a long list of things to do to it to get it on the road in the spring. It has sat on blocks for 10 years in a heated garage.

Here is my list of things to do to restore the car to stock:

1. Make/purchasenew muffler heat shield.

2. Repair/ purchase lower sheet metal pan (under radiator).

3. Purchase new muffler and all connection gaskets.

4. Install fuel tank

5. Install muffler heat shield and muffler.

6. Drain & remove old radiator.

7. Purchase new radiator + upper & lower hoses.

8. Replace oil cooler “O” rings, banjo “copper” & coolant hoses. “O” rings in stock

9. Install new radiator.

10. Clean all electrical connectors – Use spray cans of “contact cleaner”.

11. _Purchase_ new battery

12. Clean battery cable connections and install new battery.

13. Check out switch functions eg. Headlights & running lights, instruments, interior lighting, radio antenna, etc.

14. Replace all vacuum hoses – there are many

15. Replace windshield wipers blades.

16. Inspect front disks and brake pads – Inspect rear drum brakes. New pads & shoes in stock.

17. Replace tires – Size: 185 70 SR13

18. Re-assemble interior.
