Rotus
Rotus
I am new to the Forum and wanted to find out if there are any other members out there that have Rotary powered hybrid cars that are lurking here? The Rotary is a great little powerplant and has been transplanted in more cars than one might imagine. I have seen some awsome MG Midgets, Triumph Spitefires. etc. with Rotary power. I have a 1989 Rotus which is a replica of a Lotus Super 7. It is powered by a 1.3 L 13B Turbo. The car is an absolute killer on the autocross circuit. I am hoping to become more technically savvy with this little jewel of an engine through my affiliation with this club and forum. I hope those of you that drive RX7's don't mind this sort of infiltration of your site, but I thought since we are all motor heads and into rotary performance, it would be appropriate. Warren
I just purchased one from a gentleman in Maryland that was made in 1990 by Rotus. Chris Custer made it "special order" for a doctor in Georgia. It was one of 48 he produced at his dealership using primarily Toyota running gear. This one used a 1990 RX7 drive train as a base.
It was very well built and has been tuned for race and autocross which is what I intend to use it for. I have looked to buy one for years and finally one came up for sale.

Welcome from a not much older member than you. (but probably in years) it is an excellent place to learn, there are some minds on here that are light years ahead of me. I too have a 7 with a 13b, mine is a s1 with a na motor with a weber 48, but also have 2 s5 turbos that are planned for it with mild mods, mine is about as close to a DD as a 7 gets. 4kmiles this year. would be interested in sharing info,
