Rotary Tom Foolery
Greetings all, my name is David.
Originally from NorCal, currently hanging out and working in DC.
I started out wrenching on a 1972 Plymouth Satellite at the tender age of 15.
It had a 318 V8 with a 727 Torqueflite tranny with the eco gears which was good for about ~140MPH. I say approximate because the huge sweep spedo only went to 120 and the needle was about 1.5 inches past that poking the alternator gauge needle. The girls referred to it as the 40 acre hood mobile. It was good for transporting 10 people at a time and mowing down small tree's.
From there, I moved onto Aircooled VW's, a couple of 60's Ghia's, an early 60 Bug.
I learned to rebuild engines on these and created some spending cash during college working on friends VW's.
Current rides include:
'71 914
'05 STI
'64 F100
I picked up the 914 after I totaled a Ford Probe GT (last model year) by being t-boned by a red light runner doing 60mph. The crash separated my shoulder and gave me a concussion.
The plan for the 914 is to drop either a 2 or 3 rotor rotary into it so I am here to read up as much as possible before asking some hopefully not so dumb questions.
Thanks all,
Dave
