The Rotary Spirit's Story

Hey Guys and Gals, hope you like stories about rx7 owners.

I am a Rotorhead from up north in Canada. I live on the west coast in B.C. I picked a basemodel RX7 as my first car and it has truly changed my life! I drove it to get my license test and took it up and down logging roads (not TOO bumpy) I have driven that basemodel car around 10,000 km's and most of those kilometers saw the redline buzzer quite a few times! To say I love this car would be a huge understatement. I stripped the car completely, and removed the mufflers and ran a sidepipe with only the cats for backpressure. It was even STOLEN from my driveway this year, and I ran out into the street on an icy february morning with my open exhaust screaming for me to help it. I chased the car with the would-be thief inside down the street in barefeet and my boxers. As he bucked and shifted hap-hazardly through the gears with amateur precision, I got close enough to smash out the drivers side window and stop the man-woman-child in their tracks.... But by god's grace only I realized when looking at my beautiful car that it was only a car, and that my life, the thief's life; both were worth significantly more than a car which can be easily replaced. This is a good lesson that I learned in a very strange way.

I lost the car and was in a state of shock, It honestly hit me hard to lose my FC. I had planned to convert it into a rally car with a streetport as soon as the money came, and I had even charged the battery and washed the car the night before it was stolen. I expected the worst, but hoped for the best. The police weren't expecting it to turn out well.

Long story now shortened, I got the car back within 2 weeks!!!! It had only 160kms put on it (probably all the gas in it) and my newish rear pirelli tires were now bald. Curiously though, he wasn't capable of putting wear on the front tires, which is what my problem seems to be (from cornering too hard). The car still runs awesome, and sustained only shock and spring wear (very bagged). To prove this, you can check me out at a drift event less than one month after I was able to get my car out of the police impound lot.

Some people like to look at cars and some people like to drive them. To each his own. Oh yeah, and I did mention that is ON THE TRACK right? This is important because we can gain tons of experience while we are alive, but risking your own and others lives on the streets ( or even logging roads for that matter ) is a completely unnecessary risk. It is very dangerous to just drive a car, let alone drive it hard.

I now own 3 FC3S of various trims. TII, GXL, and the trusty GX which only has a scuff on the paint of the front bumper to remember its time away from home. I also rent and work on 10 other vehicles, totalling 13 vehicles in my posession and care. One of these is my ultimate dream car, an 04 WRX STi. She's a dirty dirty girl. She even stripped for me within 3 months of ownership (only front seats and dash remain) Do yourself a favor and buy one of these if you can, a WRX and lesser models are great, but the STi shouldn't even be sold to consumers. It is insane.

I look forward to pursuing motorsports more agressively in the future, and I hope everyone here will support me and eachother to help everyone stay safe and have fun. I hope that with rotary power and my passion for driving I will make my name known. I am Ryan Turner.
