Rotary newbie

Hey guys. Name's brandon. I'm right on the NC/SC boarder.

I'm new to rotaries but not new to cars. I'll be 23 this year and have spent a good bit of time working on d and b series honda engines from the age of 16. I tackled my first personal project may of last year. A 98 eclipse non turbo to turbo conversion. I kept the stock "neon" engine and slapped a turbo kit on it. The t25 turbo i used didn't like me and i ended up cracking the hot side. I guess it was a mixed blessing. I love grip and drag racing but it's lost it's fun and i've been looking to go sideways in a rwd car for about 5 years now. I wanted a 240sx until i realized how big of a headache working on one would be and almost traded my car for a bone stock eg6 civic hatchback.

I put the car up on craigs about 3 months ago and got a good bite. 88 gtu rx7. Factory diff, factory electronic suspension. The interior is in sad shape and the exterior isn't far behind. He poped the hood and the rotary is clean enough to eat off of. He also offered me a set of 17" wheels for the car, some parts he has laying around (non popup lamps, tail lamps that i'm hoping are kouki's) plus money for a parts car. The parts car i found probably about a year ago going turbo hunting in a junkyard. It's a gxl 5 speed. The body is straight. All the glass and interior is there. Good shell. The 13b in it i plan on rebuilding (doing homework on bridgeporting now) for a turbo project possibly. Part of our deal is, he helps me with my rx7 and i help him with his eclipse. His dad has a shop full of everything we'd need. I told him i wanted to make an equal length top mount manifold for the eclipse and he's cool with that and offered to pay me for the install. He's just stoked on my car. I'm stoked on his and it was nice to meet someone who knew what they were talking about. I think it's a fair enough trade.

This car will be my daily and right now i'm set on getting the car looking nice and doing research. I've been checking out aaroncake's youtube videos and posts trying to figure out if i want to turbo the n/a or drop in a turbo II but with a baby on the way, saving for a turbo II swap is going to be a tad difficult.

Anyway, thanks for having me and look foward to pics monday or tuesday. Most likely tuesday. We've got to get his car here, my parts car here, get him my car and then my title notorized so he can register it in NC.
