SC Restoring my 1980 Custom Rx7 to it's glory!

The time has come! My boys and I are restoring my 1980 SA that was highly customized in 1988, back to its former glory. This car has a really cool story. Way before Foose and Kindig were drawing their customs before building, I designed and drew this car when I was 16. My family has been building corvettes since the early 60's and we were breaking the RX down to repaint and my uncle asked me what we should do it it. There was a rear bumper from a 1981 corvette laying next to the car and we held it up and said, "this would be cool." I was an art student and I drew it up and they built it.

It took 11 months and we rolled the sides, added an 81 corvette rear bumper, fiber glassed the center and put in FB side tail lights. We also tucked the front bumper back a few inches and rolled the ends to replace the rubber caps. The car was killer! After a few years of driving it I went to college and it has dome mechanical issues and we parked it in the barn. Honestly, in my 20s I neglected it and it started rusting away. We pulled it our last month, and damn! She cleaned up pretty well and didn't have near the rust I thought.

What I didn't realize was how freaking popular they have become! And, I can't find many parts. So I'm hopping in on here to find inspiration, parts and post pics of the process.

I've got one sat that drive like a beast, and another that builds LS drag cars so we're going to give it all we got over the next year or so and get her rebuilt. Staying true to the 12a, no LS swap here.

Immediate parts I need:
- hood
- holley 4 barrel
- black dash
- black carpet

If you can tell me where to look, please do!

welcome aboard. there's a place for everything on this forum.

intros only belong in this section. no parts fishing, no build progress.

if u need parts, post a want to buy here, https://www.rx7club.com/market/

and i would suggest starting a build thread here, https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-293/

Welcome to the forum! Cool that you still have the car all these years later! How long had you owned it before you started modifying it in 88?

As stated above, you'll want to create a want to buy ad in the marketplace section for the parts you need and seeing a build thread of your continued progress on the car would be great to see in the Builds section in the 1st Gen section!!

My brother got the 80 RX in 86 and drove it for two years before it got passed down to me. We started the build in 88 and finished it on spring 89.

How many miles are on the car currently? It has to be fairly low.

that car looks right out of Miami Vice!

everyone has one of those blue Pittsburg 2 ton hydraulic jacks. Harbor Freight must of made a killing on those.

140,000. Seems like it had 70--80k on it when we got it in the mid 80s and then I put 30-40k on it.
