Reintroduction and Reviving the Passion: My RX7 Journey in Texas

Hello everyone, I wanted to reintroduce myself to the rx7club.com community. While I have been a member of this site for many years, I must admit that I haven't been actively participating. However, I have always had a deep appreciation for the RX7 and the incredible community that surrounds it. My journey with the RX7 began when I purchased a 1993 Montego Blue RX7 from its second owner in Houston back in the early 2000s. It was fascinating to see the original owner's name still present in the owner's manual, a testament to its history in Texas. The car came with some supporting modifications, including a full exhaust, intake, turbo timer, and boost controller. For a couple of confident years, I enjoyed driving the car, but eventually, some issues started to arise. At that point, I decided to entrust the car to a local Austin area shop called MZM International. They did an excellent job addressing various issues, and we agreed on installing a new short block with new 99 spec twins, an ACT HD clutch, Walbro 255 fuel pump, new engine harness, and several other small parts. Later, I added a new Magnaflow exhaust to further enhance the performance.

Heres a pic of her before the sun got to the paint and the huge hail storm that devestated central texas back in 2009 i believe caught me parked outside.

Unfortunately, life took me on a different path, and the car has been sitting idle for over four years. Now, I recognize that it requires a new EMS (Engine Management System) and possibly upgraded fuel injectors for optimal performance. I also have a larger intercooler that I plan to install, along with several other reliability modifications. I've been advised that converting to a "true twin" setup would be beneficial to eliminate the rats nest. In addition to the engine work, the suspension and brake lines/system are also in need of some attention. I'm eager to connect with fellow RX7 enthusiasts who share the same passion and knowledge about the FDs. I reside in the North Austin area of Texas, and I'm hoping to find like-minded individuals who can provide guidance and support as I continue to revive and improve my RX7. Thank you all for your warm welcome and support. I look forward to engaging with this amazing community once again and sharing our love for these iconic cars. Best regards, John.
