Ready for my midlife crisis
Just sold my SUV and I've contemplating a second gen RX7 convertible for my new toy.
After trading off my IS300 to fund my wife's new SUV, I've been in automotive purgatory for the last six months driving an Explorer. I couldn't take it anymore, so I sold the Explorer.
There has been an 88 RX7 convertible listed locally for a while, so I went and checked it out. It's a little too crusty for what I'm wanting, so I passed, but it lit the fire.
Now I've been shopping around for others and think I found one that meets my requirements.
Anyway, I'm a gear head and have spent the last 15 years or so wrenching on old Mopars. I've had a bunch, and am currently assembling a 72 Cuda... but that is a subject for a diffent forum. Point being, while I'm familiar with the perils of old cars, my experience with RX7s is minimal/non-existant.
I'm still doing some research, but I'd like to know what are the not so obvious issues I need to watch out for on these gen 2s, particularly convertibles.
Also, what is a good source for a replacement top?
Thanks,
Jim
